vellum

Friends of Speedy TV wants to see what you
can do with vellum this week So many ways to go
with this one so come show us your ideas! I cut
vellum out with a MS Punch for the center strip, embossed it for the
sentiment and manipulated it to make the rose.
I wanted to make this a soft look with the vellum so I used
the soft dotted grey for the background stitched around it.
Next I punched the pretty border then added
the pink strip cut with a SU die then
embossed. It really need something to ground it all and the
little black strip seemed to do the trick.
After embossing the sentiment It was added to
the SU scalloped oval piece.
The leaves were cut with a Spellbinder foliage die
and embossed with the SU lattice folder.
I cut the rose with the Spellbinder Rose Creations dies.
I spent some time manipulating the petals, layering
and added the pearl center. Lastly added the
three pearls to finish the feminine look.
My teammates have lots of beautiful inspiration for you this week,
stop by and join the fun!

Standing Z at Tutorial Time with Speedy TV

Yes  you heard me right A Standing Z, thats the
Challenge this week at TTSTV. Pat is hosting the
tutorial this week and you can find her detailed
instructions HERE.I had half a piece of this dp, perfect
size for this one. I like that its fun and
kind of girly too.Lots of stitching on this one. I ran with
the heart theme from the little aqua and burgandy heart
flowers on the dp.The burgandy was embossed and stitched then the
aqua heart dp was punched and added with a decorative heart stitch.
I used Spellbinder heart dies and stamped with the sentiment from
the Friends Set The white  Spellbinder label die is stamped with the
sentiment from The Primitive Farm Set.
I dyed some ribbon to match and
tied the label on with it. The stop is a little flower I punched
with a couple Marvy punches in colors
to match the ones on the dp.
We all did very different cards, so be sure to stop
by and check out all the amazing
 inspiration from my teamies!!

Ready for a new Challenge??

Hope you all had a wonderful weekend. We enjoyed a beautiful
Easter Celebration but its back to the grind now! This weeks
Challenge at FOSTV is to make a Waterfall card. Now I have
to admit this was a bit of a challenge, but I found
a tutorial on YouTube and got it whipped.
The dp was stitched onto the base and the green
tie down strip added. Although the
white strip doesnt show its embossed. The sentiment is
from the Friend Set. All
the sets used can be found at the Marks Finest Papers a
Heinrich Co. Store HERE.
I
I used flowers from the new April Release Camellias, Lotus Blossoms,
Black Eyed Susan Mini and Dragonflies  Mini Sets. After coloring
them they were added to the tab.
After embossing the tab I added the reinforcement tab,
punched a hole and added the ribbon pull.
I stamped a couple little messages
on the bottom of the tab so
when its pulled you will see them.

This weeks winner will take home the Year of Horse Set

A fun new Challenge

Tutorial Time with Speedy TV has a new tutorial today. Lis is showing us how to
make Medallions and lots of fun ways to use them.I decided to go with flowers.
After punched the edges for the large medallion I added layers of dotted swiss,
gingham  pink paper and a little floral print with a pearl center, easy peasy
flower! The small one just has the gingham and a punched striped layer
with the pearl center. The leaves were cut with a Spellbinder die and
the butterfly is a Cherry Lynn die. The white was embossed with the
Dotted Swiss folder and the little torn pink piece stitched on. The
sentiment was mounted on a piece cut with a SU punch.
The Sentiment is from the  Friends Set

Really Reasonable Ribbon

is the Sponsor for Team B's Tuesday Throwdown Challenge this week.

They have a lovely selection of ribbon including all colors of seam
binding so stop over and visit them HERE.

Our theme this week is Vintage/Shabby Chic. My project is a little wall hanging.
I started with a piece of light weight card board cut out with a Spellbinder
stitching two layers together to make it good and stiff. I  used some
textured packing paper, a piece of corregated cardboad box stitched on
for the base. I had an old rose print I tore and added. Using texturing
compound I stenciled on the random dots them used inks to color
them. Some old lace trim was added in a few random
spots. The flourish is a Cherry Lynn die cut into pieces.
I stained and dyed the buckram that is tucked around
the flowers. All the flowers are vellum. The two
at the top are cut with a Spellbinder rolled rose.

The leaves are all from a Spellbinder die also.
Im not sure what the butterfly die is.
A piece of pink was cut and embossed with
a dotted swiss and tucked in.The
sentiment is an old stamp I have dont know the maker.
I stamped it onto the piece cut with a Spellbinder then
faux stitched and edges inked.

The rose on the bottom is cut with a Spellbinder Rose Creation;
the foliage is also Spellbinder and I added a little rose
bud to it. I actually think I will replace the
rose. It was pale with the edges slightly darkened
but it looked a little to peach compared to the ribbon
so I tried to add some pink in and its too bright
and blobby looking now after I see it in
the photos.

A color Challenge this week

Hope you all had a great weekend. This Mondays Challenge at Friends of Speedy TV
is to used Purple & White. Not a hard challenge for me because purple is one
of my favorite colors. I cut the edge with a Spellbinder die and then embossed the
remainder o the white. The purple was embossed with a SU folder and all was
stitched on. The lace is from my stash just waiting to be used on this card lol!
I really like this image from the March Release called Friends Set. After
coloring I cut out with a Spellbinder Scalloped oval leaving the two
blossom edge out, dont remember what that technique is called.
Added it to the purple plaid and foam dotted on. The  Sentiment
is from the Just a Note Set and stitched on with the button.
My teamies really did a stellar job on this challenge,
check out their awesome cards and join us
while you are at it.

Who still uses waxed paper?

Today you will be needing some for this Challenge
Our TTSTV  tutorial is brought to us this week by Jane
and she is showing us how to do the Waxed Paper Resist Technique.
This created some interesting background papers.
I  used Tim Holtz green ink on this one. The images
are from the Birdcages Set! I heat embossed the birdcage
using a antique gold powder. I think the bird is really a
Cockatoo but I wanted color so it has now become
a hybrid parrot!! The branches were
cut with Spellbinder dies.Used the the green background
and vines to try to create a outdoor setting for
the bird. Hope you all are warming up in
the cooler climates. We had to birng our birds in
because here in the desert we hit 100 degrees today,
not so happy about summer starting already!
Looks like its going to be a long hot one.
S
Just have to share this pic....
so excited to say my little sis's daughter
had her first baby last night. She was a little
stubborn getting here but here she is my new
great niece Miss Emma
a hour or so old.

Ready for Easter

Our Friends of Speedy TV Challenge is to make an Easter Card.
Such a beautiful time of year, all the plants are wakening
from winter slumber. Flowers are everywhere, the
garden is overflowing with luscious bounty for the table.
Easter is my favorite holiday celebrating the truth that
Jesus is Risen, to give the gift of New Life to all that will receive!!
I started with a pastel stripe but it looked too plain, after embossing
it I liked it much better. The pieces were all cut with Spellbinder
dies. After stamping the sentiment from the Spring Joy  Set I cut
it with the Spellbinder Fancy Label die then attached it with
brads to the lavender die cut. The green was embossed
with the Dotted Swiss Folder. The flower was cut
with a PTI die. My ribbon was dyed to match
the yellow on the card. The flower matches much
betterin person, seems in the pic it skews the
color makingit look very bright compared
to the rest of the yellows..

You will need some canvas...

Barbie is bringing the tutorial to us this week. You can stop by to check
out her easy instructions. I have a roll of canvas from my oil painting
days. I have washed a big piece  of it to remove some of the sizing
and gesso but  it leaves some on it which keeps it from coloring
evenly. Actually I liked the results of uneveness, it gives a sort
of Monet look, my favorite artist! I cut a small piece off and
stamped it with the Lotus Image from the Lotus Blossom Set.
I used Tim Holtz inks to color it. The edges were frayed
and stitched onto the mat The Fishtail was embossed with
the folder. The top was cut with a MS
checkboard punch. I  stitched the top together
and then cut and rounded the
corners of the blue piece  and tied it all together.
The base is a Lost and Found dp and the stripe is a recycle off
a piece of packaging that had the same colors in it..

Hope you all have a great weekend and would love to have you
stop over and join the Challenge too!

Not only is it April Fools Day

Its also time for Team B's Tuesday Throwdown Challenge.

It is to crop a digi and our Sponsor is Robyn's Fetish.
I love Hibiscus because there are such a variety of
colors and different types of blossoms.  Hibiscus
Valentine Retta. It  was actually a heart image
with flowers, vine  and ribbon. I cropped it with a heart die and colored
the remaining parts of the image. The edges of the heart are distressed
and then mounted onto the peach colored mat cut with a Spellbinder
die and foam dotted on..The dp is a  pretty Bo Bunny , which I
did a little additional stenciling on and then stitched onto the base
card. The Fleur De Lis is cut with a Spellbinder die and attached.
The sentiment is cut with a SU Oval Punch. The leaf spray
was also cut with a Spellbinder die.The crochet lace was
attached to the burlap strip and attached to the card.

My teamies
have lots of wonderful inspiration for you to get started.
Stop on over and join in the fun this week~

This year is zooming by isnt it!!
