FRIENDS OF SPEEDY TV

Monday brings us to a new week and a new challenge at FOSTV.

This weeks is a color challenge.... black ,yellow and fuschia!
Now I have to say I would have never chosen these but thats what
challenges are all about right?? Actually my minds eye
envisioned this gaudy combo of colors but after I got over that
and started looking thru my papers I found a nice little neutral
with a touch of fuschia on it. So it began to literally blossom from there,
using a Spellbinder looped border I cut a black and a yellow to
shadow it with. Attached and added the little lace strip on
 top of it.

After making my fuschia rose I cut leaves and
dotted with yellow and again one of them shadowed with
the yellow. My little dressmaker from is cut from a SU die and shadowed,
adding a little yellow band and fuschia fiber tied around
the waist. Stamped the dressmaker  with the Get Well
sentiment from the Flap My Wattles set and I like the color combo.
 My teammates really
came up with some beautiful creations for this challenge.
So now Im challenging you all to put on
your thinking cap and join us....

TUTORIAL TIME ON SPEEDY TV #37

As I say all the time I LOVE Fridays!!

And it  means we are having a new Challenge at TTSTV
. Kathy Bradley has a tutorial on how to make a Concertina card.

I really had fun with this one. Another first but quite easy to make.
One of the February releases at Marks Finest Papers a Heinrich Co
 is the Hum Along Set
The card has 6 sections or pages plus the front so I did each
of the two pages in a color on the front and back

I cut my card from a piece of dotted Bo Bunny paper and punched
the top section with a MS arches punch.

I  stamped multiples of the images coloring them and cutting
them all out to use on
all the pages. I love the beautiful hummers and flowers in this set, it can be
used for some many different occasions!

So, warning lots of pics to scroll thru.

I used different inks, mulberry paper, doilies, stitckles,
diecuts, vellum, lace and some modeling paste

on the pages along with the images. Stop over to visit Kathy's tutorial

and make one of these fun cards. So many possibilities with it

TUESDAY THROWDOWN

Good Morning, its time for Tuesday Throwdowns Team B's challenge.
Sweet N Sassy has many wonderful images so stop by and visit their
store!
I have used the Coneflowers and Butterfly image.
Trying to stay with the mono look

I did all but the stems in purples and then cut the image out. I do not know
the makers of the dps as they were from the scrap bin. The solids are from SU.
The oval is from Spellbinders. My sewing machine is giving me fits so I tore up the
first set of mats and just attached the second ones with no stitching.
They look rather plain but better that loopy stitches!.
A little bow and that makes for a quick and simple card this week.
You will want to check out all the fab creations from my teammates
AND notice we are excited to have Vicki back with us!!

FRIENDS OF SPEEDY TV

Just wanted to say a quick thanks for the Great RAK from Erin Blegen.
Lots of wonderful goodies to work with!

You really want to pop over to her blog Erin Blegen My Scrap Cabin
and see her Gorgeous creations.

Weekends are never long enough are they!!
Since it's Monday it's time for the new FOSTV Challenge.

This week it is recipe cards. I made a page instead of just a card because that is
one of my ongoing projects. For my girls I make recipe albums  with fun pages
for each family recipe. This one is my youngest daughters favorite. Of course you
want to eat a giant bowl of broccoli to go with it and then take a 5 mile ride or jog
afterwards it is rather fat laden! I stitched together three different papers using
some meandering stitching to make the 7x8 inch page.
The recipe is computer generated and punched at the bottom with a MS Scalloped
dots punch along with the mat. The bowl and spoon are from the

Mark's Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. set  Recipe Card Starter.
After coloring everything up I cut them all out. This is a perfect
set for this challenge. The chilis are from the Hot & Spicy set. I stamped
colored and cut out a couple then stamped  the green
dotted Bo Bunny paper and cut them out to create the little border.

The fun little red looped border is from MFT with some dotted dimensional paint.
Thanks for stopping by and be sure to stop over
and join this weeks challenge.

Tutorial Time with Speedy TV #36

Friday, my favorite day!! It's my turn to do the tutorial and I have chosen the Rock Salt Technique.
You will find the Tutorial Here along with the challenge. It is an easy technique just a  little time
consuming waiting on drying time. This post is long enough so I will not show the whole tutorial here,
just a glimpse. Stop by Marks Finest Papers a Heinrich Co. for all your Stamping and
Scrapping needs. The winner will take home the beautiful Dogwood Stamp Set this week.
I have been so inspired by all the talented ladies doing these fabulous LOs so I have
used my pieces on a LO. Now there is a story behind this LO, we didnt spend Christmas at the
river!.My mom is Very family oriented and  has always modeled the importance of family,
she is also a geneology buff. She has made huge books will all the family history and
pics back to the 1500s for each family member. My sis, niece and I went together and
bought this huge 3x4 ft frame with a cool raised metal tree in the center and a
family saying across the bottom and it has 16 opening for pics. Now this is significant because that
is the exact amount we needed for our family. How cool is that!

My mom has 4 living children and among us we have12 children. Each of us needed a pic and
our children with their families. All of our out of town family sent their pics to us. Since non of us
had any recent photos  my niece planned a little photo shoot at the river on Sat before Christmas.
Think we were a little last minute finishing up this project lol! Well that morning it was cloudy cold
and windy so we waited till noon. All the guys moaned and groaned as we said they all had to
come to the river for pics but after we got there they really got in the swing of it and we had
so much fun. We did pics on the rocks, lying on the beach, up above the river etc. Anyways the
family pic frame turned out awesome, my mom cried to see her whole family represented in one spot,
as of course we knew she would! So all that to tell you this is one of the pics we took that day. It was
a little cool and windy but the sun came out and we were able to get lots of great pics. This one of my husband and I  is the only one my niece gave me, still waiting for the others!

I used some paste to create the raise sections of squares over the background then used several
different inks to color it. Next came some tearing and distressing, then stitched it to the blue. After
making up a variety of flower and greenery I added a couple premade and used them to frame the photo.
I added our name at the top and attached  the oval chipboard to a Spellbinder die cut then added the Christmas 2012.Here is a close look at some of the flowers. I really liked the way the big navy one turned out. Be sure to stop by and check out my teammates lovely creations this week.
This is a first, Im going to enter a Scrapbook Challenge

Friends of Speedy TV

Did you all enjoy your weekend? It really cooled down here so no gardening!
I did have a big baby shower cake for Sat morn, then I got a panic
call from a friends DIL. Help Davi we have corsages to make for
the PTA Valentine's Father Daughter dance, do
you think you could come show us how!  Ha, I get there they have
nothing but 150 carnations and wristlets. Well needless to say I had to
run home get my tools and got some girls to help me do some of the easy steps
. We did it and got them all done! In case you dont know my mom owned a Florist
so I was a floral designer for years. Pretty much shot  the rest of my day.
But what a wonderful opportunity for Dads to honor their daughters,
and I was glad to hear that  it was a big success and they all
had great fun according to all the facebook reports!

So onto our FOSTV challenge we are looking for non traditional
Valentine's Day cards.Browns and with a bit or orange seemed pretty
non traditional so here we are. Using some Lost & Found dp along with
some SU brown for the card. No sewing just a little dotted swiss embossing folder
for the little top part along with the hearts cut with a Spellbinder heart die.
The dyed ribbon was tied around that part.A little touch of  crocheted lace
for the center. Then of course I used my
for the two sentiments. I like the non traditional colors and of course my
husband will love it because I made it for him!
I also made up 4 quick little tags
with things I love about him. I will put one in his
lunch box each day till Valentine's.

TUTORIAL TIME WITH SPEEDY TV #35

I am sooo happy it's Friday but disappointed that
the weather is supposed to cool off quite a bit after having the most fabulous
weather the past few days. Seems the weather is never as nice on the weekends
when you would like to be in the garden or out in the mountains!!
And speaking of Friday it is time for a new
tutorial and challenge at FOSTV. Our tutorial is faux frosting,
a fun  and very easy technique brought to us by Katie.

If you pop over to the Challenge you will also find her tutorial.
This technique can be used for a variety of things as you can see from
the teams take on it. I actually used my for frosting on my cupcakes
. After coloring them I put the "frosting" on them and cut them out.
I like the little silver cupcake liners so I colored mine with greys
and added a little silver glitter. I used the Dotted Swiss folder to
emboss the card before adding my little plaid topper and bow.
The buttons were added to each peak of the scallop.
The little cupcakes and sentiment were layered and added.
Quick and easy for a fun card.

A Twisted Easel card you say.....yes, that is our challenge this week.
Its a first for me but it was really very easy using  Lagene's tutorial.

For the top I used the daisy image from the Black Eyed Susan Mine set. The fun dp
is a BoBunny piece. Dyed some ribbon to go with it and added the
pretty butterfly.
The bottom part from The Girl's Paperie was stitched on  and the lace added The flower
is made from a PTI bloom builder die and a big pearl for the center. The flourishes are MFT.
The sentiment was layered and edges distressed.

has made the instructions so easy you will want to try this one!
