PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE

Happy Wednesday so glad you stopped by. Our challenge at The Pixie Cottage is Anything Goes and there is also a sketch, your choice. I am making paper bag albums for a upcoming boutique so this is one of the covers. Using the lovely Pixie Cottage hummingbird image for the focal point I floated shades of green around it. The corner flourish is a Cheery Lynn that my sweet sis got for me. After stitching all around it I used the Stampin Up small wonder stamp which seemed so fitting. I think hummers are such wondrous little creations of God, they fascinate me with their agility and speed.
Sometimes when I'm in the garden they
will come and take a little dust bath or
flit through the spray as I water all
the time twittering as if to sing me a song of thanks. That is why I chose this sentiment.
You all can join in as its anything goes so come on over.

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Link
Here it is Tuesday again and time for a new challenge at Tuesday Throwdown. Our great sponsors at PinkCat Studio supplied us with some very fun image. Be sure to stop by and check out all their wonderful selection. Our theme is torn paper. The prissy little Kitty made me think of a Parisian theme. I stamped a few background images including the eifelle tower, next I embossed with a script folder and then swipped the raised script with some black ink then torn the B&W floral print and attached, I tore several sized circles for the little flower and tore a leaf. The image is water colored and cut out with the Spellbinder label #21, then matted on the scalloped oval. I did two of the image and cut out her hat and pop dotted it up for extra dimension. The Spellbinder Fleur dis le border stitched on and embellieshed with buttons.
Yikes I think my computer is slowly dying. First the cord to upload pics wouldnt work and when I forgot to add the sentiment and redid the pic it would not read my card. So here it is no sentiment. Might be a little challenging to get pics for next week challenge!
Shannon White has joined our team so be sure to stop by and welcome her .

Scavenger Hunt Sunday

This is my first attempt at joining Scavenger Hunt Sunday. Five words to
demonstrate and here is what I came up with.

CROSSED
There are so many things you could use for crossed but this one made me
laugh so thought it would be a good start.

GLIMPSE
I walked outside, looked over at the fence and thought the hole would be the
one for a glimpse and as walked up to the knot hole
I could see the tip of a branch
how perfect is that for a glimpse!
Love that aged wood.

BLISSLots of things that I would consider bliss would be difficult to photograph or its
a place where Im not right now soooo. Our son in law who lives in Michigan is working in
southern California about 4 hours away.
He came to visit yesterday and since its the first time he has been to our home
I had to make it a little special. Im not a chocolate fanatic so I
made some fabulous lemon curd to fill a white cake and to
drizzle a little over the top with white
chocolate curls and a few
raspberries and yes it was bliss.

HANDWRITTEN

A note from a precious older lady who was a great mentor
early in my Christian walk. She was such a blessing to me and yet
even though she was much more the giver to me, in her humility
she saw me as the giver. This note was one
of several and Ive kept it all these years to remind
me of how to be a mentor to others.

GREY
In the desert there arent to many grey days! Soo this
was the best I could do. Snapped it just before the sun came up this
morning, as you can see the wind is blowing again.

Even though either my skills nor camera are the best I really had fun
trying the Scavenger hunt. I was enticed to try from the
truly talented photograper Linda @ My Happy Place She just has
the most amazing shots, really captivating!

CR84FN Color Challenge

I have used Mona's CR84FN As inspiration for my She Art creation.

I saw the skirt Christy Tomlinson at Scarlet Lime
did with the rolled papers and immediately thought it would make a fab ballet skirt. Have been chomping at the bit to find a free afternoon to make one. It was the surgeons week so I worked late Friday night and back for the POs on Sat morn.Worked a long hard week and said to myself, It's a gloriously beautiful day here in the desert so going to work in the garden for a bit and said housework will have to wait! After finishing the gardening I'm taking the afternoon to create , do you ever do that??

After cutting a piece of thin fiber board I started by painting the background with white then begin to work in the green grey and lavender. I stamped some doodles with ink then stamped the little flower using paint.I sketched
out a dancer...my proportions are not just right but they will have to do for this one.
Tore and rolled book pages to form tubes then dipped in some diluted ink. While the roles dried I painted her and cut out her top. I glued on all the paper rolls adding a little paint for color then used some tulle for a tied belt. Lastly I made the top medallion by layering different pieces of Spellbinders punching a center hole. After attaching them all together I pulled my lavender and green ribbon thru and tied a knot to form the hanger.

This hanging is 7 x13 so my camera isn't able to capture all the details close up. Here is a closer pic so you can see the rolls that form her skirt. Sorry my camera isn't better so you could see the colors and details a little more clearly. Such fun she was to make and I'm pleased with the way she turned out. So glad you stopped by today. If you are interested in the classes you can find them here.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE & PASSIONATELY ARTISTIC

Scroll down for Passionately Artistic post

Hope you all had a nice Valentines Day yesterday. We have
a fun challenge today at The Pixie Cottage, anything but a card.

I made a Valentines set for my husband. The gift box was made using a 8" x 11" paper scoring 2 1/2" sides and folding up 1 1/2" to form the botto
m then attaching then overlapping the sides to attach. Before attaching the bottom and side I used the Spellbinder hearts to cut out the windows and adhered shear plastic sheeting behind the windows.
Using wire for the handle and a lace bow for decoration. I wanted a somewhat collage look so used several hearts embossing the black ones and all the hearts were cut with the
Spellbinder hearts. I also used a Memory Box Cherish border cut into pieces for the card and box. My rose images are Simply The Best by Artish found Here. After stamping the roses I outlined all of it in black stickles so it has
a nice sparkle in person. Using a MS heart bor
der to finish off the
top then filled it with cherry sour ball for my love.

The tag base was stamped with and old collage stamp then
stitched round. The same hearts and image were attached to it
also. Just wanted to added the border to two sides and
more of the lace.

Thanks for stopping by today. You will want to be sure to stop by
The Pixie Cottage and see my teammates delightful creations.

Im in the black and red mode this week ya think! Well this card was for my
sweet dad so wanted it to be masculine. Very simple. Using two layers of MS
zig zag border punch to mimic the diamond checked center. The fun little glittery
hearts give it just enough sparkle. Some fun stitching to finish the edges. And my
dad thought it was great because his #1 daughter made it for him!

TUESDAY THROWDOWN CHALLENGE

Happy Valentines Day to you all!
Our sponsor for this week is Fred She Said. They have a great selections of colored and uncolored images you will want to check out. The challenge here at
Tuesday Throwdown is Use Twine. I used the lovely peony image for
my card today. I Love Peonies but unfortunately they do not grow here
in the desert so I have to admire them from afar. After water coloring my
image I cut it out with the Spellbinder Scalloped Oval. Using the left over
paper I made the stripes to go with the bottom section. The pretty
border is a Papertrey Ink double punched and wrapped in some twine
I striped with a pink marker. A little

button tied twine bow attaches the image. A small peony cut
out for the corner of the sentiment and Viola done. Now its your
turn to show us what you can do with twine ;)

which you will find on the blog.

Isn't this the sweetest little image. She is Girly Girl Buffy by Alisa Ramirez
and you can find her at Michelle's Scrapbooking & More. After water coloring
her I cut her out with a Spellbinder label #4 and foam dotted on. The red layer of
the card was embossed with a floral folder and the striped dp stitched on.
The ribbon is tied with a little butterfly charm and the jewels add a
little shimmer to this cutie. The sentiment and mat

Since Valentines is next week thought I would share
this card I made for my sweet Mom. I cut the pink heart out with
decorative scissors and attached
the doily to it. The center pink heart was embossed then
stitched on. I sponged the chip board flourish with white, cream and
pale blue paint. Hand dyed the ribbon to match. My mom loves flowers
so made two flowers and a bud. The sentiment was punched out with
a SU punch and attached to the
Spellbinder fancy tag. Lastly put red behind the heart shaped
cut outs and added a little red stickles.

I used Monas CR84FN color challenge to inspire me

She Art Cover

You know those times when there seems to be lots of negative stuff... well that has been the last month here. Nothing major just inconveniences, a broken dryer, motorcycle, chain saw, door knob, kitchen light fixture and now my glass cooktop cracked! Is that crazy??? I took a pot off and was draining it when there was a huge pop and smaller pop and when I looked at the stove would you believe 2 cracks all the way across the top. Having to cook on the two burners but at least its still usable :) Sometimes all that stuff seems a bit overwhelming. Last night I couldnt sleep so decided to get up and distract my mind by creating. This She Art cover for my paper bag album was the result.

When I got home from work this evening the wind had died down, the sun was still up and it was so beautiful. I pulled a few weeds in the garden, grabbed a few lettuce leaves and took them to the rabbits. We have a couple little babies about two months old so just sat and watched them peacefully eating. I was just reflecting on how blessed I am and these Little hic ups are just that so need to put them in perspective :) I hadn't put a title on my cover. After pondering I added this one and thought I would share it with you all. I like the bright cheery colors, they make me smile.

PIXIE COTTAGE CHALLENGE & PASSIONATELY ARTISTIC

The theme for this week at The Pixie Cottage is Clean & Simple,
we also have a sketch , your choice.
Im not especially good at any one style but I find C&S particularly difficult.
I used a cuttlebug folder to emboss the background. I thought the simple South
End Girl really lended itself to the C&S style. I water colored her and then matted
her on the yellow. The yellow tab was used to attach the image. A simple
sentiment finishes it. The team has some wonderful inspiration so be sure to
stop on over and visit.

I have several albums I need to make so this is cover for one of them.
After water coloring the cute little dancing Claudias I matted on the pale yellow.
After stitching around the borders I stitched on the embossed center strip
and the two borders. Layered stars for embellies and the sentiment
completes it. The border is Paper Trey Ink and the stars
and sentiment are Spellbinders.
